- 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ cup (120ml) whole milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8-inch (20 cm) round or square baking pan with parchment paper.Cream Butter and Sugar:
In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together using a mixer until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).Add Eggs:
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, sift together the flour and baking powder.Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.Add Vanilla:
Stir in the vanilla extract for extra flavor.Bake the Cake:
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake for 30–40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.Cool and Serve:
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy your soft and buttery cake
