Ingredients
For the Dough:
- 2 ¼ tsp (7g) active dry yeast
- 1 ½ cups (360ml) warm water
- 3 ½ cups (440g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
For the Toppings:
- 1 cup (250ml) tomato sauce
- 2 cups (200g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil leaves
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Pinch of salt and pepper
Instructions
Prepare the Dough:
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, then knead for 8–10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1–2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Place a pizza stone or baking tray in the oven to heat up.Roll Out the Dough:
- Punch down the dough and divide it into two equal portions.
- Roll out each portion into a thin circle on a floured surface.
Assemble the Pizza:
- Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce over the dough.
- Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the top.
- Add fresh basil leaves and drizzle olive oil over the pizza.
- Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
Bake:
Transfer the pizza to the hot pizza stone or baking tray. Bake for 8–12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.Serve:
